Rutland, Vermont is the 2nd largest city in Vermont, trailing behind Burlington, Vermont. The city population is about 15,000 people. It is the shire town of Rutland County, Vermont, United States. Located near the heart of Vermont, it is located approximately 65 miles north of the Massachusetts border and 20 miles east of the New York border. This small, quaint city has surprisingly interesting and fun places to visit. Don't underestimate Rutland, Vermont, founded in 1761.

There is a wonderful farmers' market that happens every Saturday during the summer. People often say it is the best farmers' market they have ever been to. Everything from wild mushrooms to gift cards, soap, and pottery.

The Paramount is a classic old time theatre that has been restored to its original charm of days gone by. It is also known as "The Playhouse". All sorts of events are held here from comedians, plays, musical artists, local events....It is a contributing property to the Rutland Downtown Historic District, which is listed on the National Register of Historic Places.
