Gold Creek Cabin gets electricity from the grid. While generally reliable, this also means that we are susceptible to power outages during storms as well as local Public Safety Power Shutoffs when the risk of wildfire is high.

The most significant impact of power outages is that the well pump requires electricity to operate. No electricity, no water. If a storm or PSPS is forecast, you may want to fill the bathtub with water which can then be kept for all household uses, including to refill the toilet tanks if the power goes out.

Flashlights are available in the basket in the entry.

In the pantry you will find a battery-operated table top lantern as well as a portable battery/charger. The portable battery can be used to power lamps, recharge cell phones, etc. There is also a supply of household batteries on the upper shelf of the pantry in case they are needed for the flashlights or lantern.

A corded telephone can be found in the master bedroom closet. This phone does not require power to work. The main telephone jack is in the master bedroom, along the back wall. This ensures access to a landline telephone in the event of emergency.

The lighters in the kitchen can be used to light the stove burners to cook and the fireplaces to keep warm. Power outages provide a great excuse to cook on the grill!

We apologize for any inconvenience if you are caught in a power outage at the cabin. Foothills folks will tell you that preparation is key. When a storm or PSPS is forecast, keep your phones charged, ensure you have a supply of water, and ensure the flashlights and lighters are in working order. We are just a phone call away should you find yourself impacted by an outage.
