Roaring Creek Cabin in Bryson City, North Carolina, and Brow View Treehouse Cabin, Rising Fawn, GA

As part of our "Top 10 of Houfy" Feature series, I recently reached out to Douglas Bell, owner of Roaring Creek Cabin in Bryson City, North Carolina and Brow View Treehouse Cabin in Rising Fawn, Georgia, (both in the United States)

Roaring Creek Cabin is a 1900 sq ft, 4 bedroom, 2 bathroom cabin, nestled near the entrance of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park. Brow View Treehouse Cabin is a 1200 sq ft, 3 bedroom, 2 bathroom property perched high atop Lookout Mountain, boasting fabulous views of the mountain and valley below. Both of Douglas' vacation rentals, Roaring Creek Cabin and Brow View Treehouse Cabin have been listed on Houfy since 2020. Douglas has been managing the two properties himself, owning Brow View for 8 years, and Roaring Creek for 5.

Douglas markets his two properties on VRBO, Air Bnb,and his own website. Though he uses two of the "other guys" for bookings, Douglas mentioned his website is directly linked to Houfy. Douglas attributes his Houfy Top 10 success to this direct website link, and leaving full color 8X10 brochures in his vacation rentals that encourage his current guests to book their next trip with Houfy and save on those pesky booking fees. Douglas says he gets 20% repeat guests, and 80% new guests.

I asked Douglas to tell me a bit about each property. Roaring Creek gets it's name from the Roaring Creek located just a few steps outside the back door of the cabin.

The property is a completely renovated, true log cabin.

Roaring Creek guests come to enjoy all that nature has to offer. While some guests choose to hike, white water raft, go creek tubing, fishing, ziplining and mountain biking, others opt for a more relaxing getaway, enjoying a glass of wine in the hot tub, or a cozy creekside fire at the firepit. Old school video games and also an Xbox can be found in the Gameroom for the young, and young at heart. Roaring Creek is a beautiful, park like setting, perfect for a fun family vacation or a romantic getaway.

Brow View Treehouse Cabin sits on 5 acres, and boasts fabulous views of the mountains and valley below.

With over 1000 sq feet of deck space, you truly feel like you are staying in a treehouse. The cabin has been fully renovated and comfortably sleeps 5 people in the the 2 bedrooms plus loft space. With the deck space, hot tub, fire pit area, outdoor dining area, and rocking chair porch, guests may decide to never leave the Treehouse. But for those that do, the activities and sight-seeing is almost endless. Golfing, dining, waterfalls, hiking, canyons, hang gliding, white water rafting and whew! I'm tired just telling you about it. Visit Rock City and Ruby Falls, Cloudland Canyon State Park, enjoy dinner at the famous Canyon Grill restaurant, or head to Chattanooga and check out the Tennessee Aquarium. So much to see and do, you'll want to visit the Treehouse again and again!
