Green Heron's Rest! - Toledo

View from the comfy couch where you can watch movies or shows via the live TV selection on the Roku enabled television, or log into your own Netflix or other similar accounts. - Green Heron's Rest! - Toledo
Pull out the little blue ottoman and kick your feet up out on the deck. - Green Heron's Rest! - Toledo
The big kitchen is easy to work in and bright. - Green Heron's Rest! - Toledo
Queen bedroom on the main floor with a "Wink" brand soft mattress. My partner always thought she liked firm mattresses, until this one. - Green Heron's Rest! - Toledo

Upstairs workspace. Desk has power and USB ports. The clip "tower" is moveable to use as needed. We use it to clip papers we are typing from and lean it up behind our laptop. - Green Heron's Rest! - Toledo
Direction most likely to arrive from. There is a tree along the road just before the drive. Driveway is very narrow next to the house. Parking - 2 spaces, but not big. We are able to fit our 20' F250 and a 4/dr sedan w/o blocking sidewalk. - Green Heron's Rest! - Toledo
Comfy seating and efficient fan keeps it cool and comfortable. - Green Heron's Rest! - Toledo
Coffee, tea, toast, or a smoothie anyone? - Green Heron's Rest! - Toledo

Mornings can be bright and hot outside on a summer morning. We love having a coffee outside under the shade of the garage roof overhang. - Green Heron's Rest! - Toledo
Small magnifying mirror wall mounted to also be able to check the back of your "do." A few "Make-up" washcloths could come in handy. - Green Heron's Rest! - Toledo
Green Heron's Rest! - Toledo
King sized bed with Purple 3 mattress and additional gel cooling topper. Window unit A/C to ensure a cool nights sleep. - Green Heron's Rest! - Toledo
We do love our little place and the neighborhood. As with older places there are some quirks. The drive gets very narrow next to the house and a concrete step for the side door also limits that space. - Green Heron's Rest! - Toledo
Twin bedroom on main floor across from queen bedroom. Plenty of space to stow suitcases and hang clothes. A small hanging rack in the closet provided in lieu of a dresser for small folded items. - Green Heron's Rest! - Toledo
Additional workspace right next to the deck and with plenty of natural light. - Green Heron's Rest! - Toledo
Back yard is fully fenced. Driveway next to the house too narrow for most cars. Blocking a sidewalk is against local ordinance and elderly neighbors out on a walk will call. We sometimes park one car around the corner on 286th street. - Green Heron's Rest! - Toledo
You may not want to cook "on vacation," but just in case you do and wanted an easy alternative to stove/oven/microwave (or may be used to cooking with these at home), there is an Instapot Duo (and Paella pan and additional cutting boards etc.) - Green Heron's Rest! - Toledo

Like Green Herons themselves, this modest cottage can surprise a bit. Just because you arent a big, well known, Heron, doesnt mean you cant sport a bit of unexpected color and stick your neck out w/ surprises like a big kitchen, generous king BR, 2 desk workspaces, and a fenced yard. Then do all that .5 mi. from I75 N exit 209, in a beguiling community of historic boat clubs surrounded by 2 rivers and a lake. Quiet neighborhood, 2 parking spots, more info. below and in photo captions
PARKING - There are two parking spaces on the driveway. Local ordinances do not allow for vehicles to block sidewalks, even when parked on their own driveway, and elderly neighbors walking along the sidewalk will call.
To fit a 20 vehicle (like a large truck or van) and an average sedan, without blocking the sidewalk, we pull one vehicle up alongside the front porch. We do not recommend pulling fully alongside the house as you may damage the house or your vehicle and wont be able to open the doors on one side anyway.
We also sometimes park one vehicle around the corner on 286th street (like when an electrician or plumbers truck needs to use the driveway). There is usually a parking spot available very near the corner.
It is legal to park on the road in front of the house, but it is only a two lane road and residents have done that and had their vehicles hit.

MAIN FLOOR - as you walk in -
Coat Closet with a Shark Navigator Zero-M Pet Pro vacuum cleaner.

Living room with 55 inch smart Roku enabled TV which you can sign into your own accounts such as Netflix, watch live TV, and can control with your phone, just remember to log out of all accounts before you check out. There are also a few books and games for evening that you want to say in.

Kitchen/dinning - in addition to Calphalon stainless steel pots and pans, dinner and silverware, an electric kettle and french press, toaster, and small magic bullet to conveniently mix shakes or smoothies, there is also an Instapot Duo which functions as an Instapot or Air Fryer.

Queen Bedroom - Wink brand soft model mattress, cooling mattress protector, four pillows for a selection of soft to firm. Has surge protector with USB, luggage rack, closet, bed is high enough to put your suitcases out of the way, there is a mirror and small shelf to act as an extra mini vanity.

Twin bedroom with workspace including surge protector with USB, closet, bed high enough to put suitcases out of the way.

Bathroom with tub, Makeup removal washcloths, sulfate and phthalate free soap, body wash and shampoo, hair dryer and a wall mounted magnifying wall mirror

Back deck with seating for up to six, shade umbrella, side table and coffee table on outdoor rug, two steps down into fenced yard

Two seat covered area in front of garage can be used as a smoking area, please do not leave butts and remember to empty and used ashtray

Back yard is fenced with about a three foot high chain link style fence perfect for pets, please do not leave them unattended. Please remember to pick up after your pets so the next guests may enjoy the space as well and to avoid additional cleaning costs (we do not expect our cleaners to pick up pet waste).

TOP FLOOR-
Attic bedroom with Purple 3 king bed and gel cooling topper, selection of pillows and in room window A/C to supplement central air.
Dedicated workspace with two in desk USB ports and two plug ports
Two closets, one large closet with dresser, a set of shelves and full length mirror

My husband Paul and I own and stay here frequently and have a local cohost as well. Paul and I were both raised overseas and continued traveling for work and adventure as adults before meeting late in life to adventure together. In the U.S. we most often travel with our pets. Though we live in Virginia, the Toledo area has become another home since one, or both, of us frequently comes out to help a friend that, tragically, ended up in a full care nursing home in the Toledo area in 2016. It just made sense to find a place of our own for when we come out. Thankfully, we have other friends nearby in Michigan and now, with a home, neighbors that are friend's as well. When we decided that a vacant house when we weren't there was not a good idea, we settled on short term renting. But, we weren't comfortable without having people we know be available to guests locally. So, we reached out to an Airbnb host we had stayed with several times and he was really supportive. Now, he is our cohost. We love our little place, we love the neighborhood and have been exploring more and more of the area, discovering so much. Whatever brings guests to our place, we truly hope they enjoy and discover the area, and, most of all, that they feel welcome and at home.

Getting around

Our street in Point Place is a primary street connecting two other primary streets, so it is really easy to orient yourself quickly and be able to get to nearby parks and restaurants in under 10 minutes. Parking at businesses is pretty easy and free almost everywhere in Toledo, and that includes Point Place. Toledo itself is surprisingly easy to get around traffic wise and getting anywhere from Point Place is quick. If you have lived in any congested large metro area you will be pleasantly surprised. At least that is how it is for us.
