Getting around

You will need a car to visit the parks and get around, or you can bike 7.7 miles using the canal towpath to Starved Rock State Park. The neighborhood is pedestrian and bicycle friendly. Downtown LaSalle (1 mile down the hill toward the river) is a short drive or bicycle ride, but it is a bit steep coming back! The I&M Canal towpath is a great place for bicyclists and runners. Locals often ride the towpath (about 5 miles) to nearby Utica to have lunch or visit a wine tasting room. Bicycle rental is available in warmer months at the corner of 351 and First Street in downtown LaSalle, outside the I&M Canal Visitor Information Center and Lock 16 Cafe.

Please, NO SMOKING OR VAPING of any kind in the home. You will be charged a minimum of $150 for extra cleaning for noncompliance, so please smoke outside away from open doors or windows and properly dispose of cigarette butts.

The house is not suitable for toddlers and small children due to steps, sharp corners, breakables, and electric baseboard heat. It is truly a tiny home that sometimes seems larger in photos and we ask that you respect the guest count limit.

Well-behaved dogs and their humans are welcome at this property. Maximum overnight occupancy of 2 humans and 2 dogs, with no PET FEE per stay for up to 2 dogs. Please notify us at the time of booking if you’ll be bringing dogs.
Dogs must be current on rabies vaccinations, protected by topical or oral flea and tick control, non-aggressive, and remain on a leash when outside. I provide cleanup bags for dog waste so you can dispose of it correctly. A city ordinance prohibits leaving dogs tied up outside while unattended. Sorry, pets other than dogs are not allowed. Service animals are excluded from additional fees, but please let me know who is coming so I can provide appropriate amenities.

It gets windy here sometimes, but you are welcome to use the fire pit on low fire-risk days. Please familiarize yourself with the garden hose and spigot location before you light a fire, keep the grate over the logs at all times to arrest sparks, and do not leave the fire unattended. Make sure it is completely out before leaving. You know, all the common sense stuff.
