Here's a list of things that you can do in St. Augustine that are extra easy on the wallet.

  • Walk St. George Street - This is a pedestrian-only street with shops, restaurants, and historic sites. Some require admission, but you can read the historical plagues.
  • Lightner Museum Courtyard - There is an admission charge to the Museum, but you can enjoy the courtyard and the koi pond in the center. There is a little shop that you can purchase a beverage or ice cream while you enjoy this area.

  • Mission Nombre de Dios Museum, The site of the oldest Catholic Parish in the US and home of the Great Cross of St. Augustine. Free to walk the grounds and visit the graves dating from 1600's to 1888. 27 Ocean Ave., from San Marco Avenue, 904-824-2809, missionandshrine.org

  • Beaches (admission is FREE to ALL St. Augustine and St. Johns County beaches): Find free parking and walk to the beach. There is a fee to drive and park on some beaches. Go to www.sjcfl.us/Beaches
  • Take a drive or a stroll down Magnolia Street which is slightly east of downtown St. Augustine. It has been described as one of the prettiest streets in America with its tree lined canopy forming a tunnel over the street. Contrary to the name, the trees are Spanish Moss covered oaks!
  • The Old Senator - One of the oldest live oak trees in St. Augustine that has been tested to be no less than 600 years old and sits right in the center of the Howard Johnson's motel off San Marco.
  • Tour the tiny log home in the parking lot at Ripley's Believe it or Not on San Marco. The four room home was hand carved from a 267 foot tall, 14 feet in diameter 1900 year- old Coastal Redwood tree in 1937.
  • Discover the peacocks at the Fountain of Youth - Just inside the gates of the park, you will probably see a few beautiful peacocks strutting their gorgeous plumage. Look for the white peacock! No charge unless you tour the park.
  • St. Augustine Amphitheatre Farmers Market — Free and open to the public from 8:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. every Saturday at the St. Augustine Amphitheatre, 1340C A1A South. Free admission and free parking.
  • The Night Market — Held from 6-9 p.m. the 2nd and 4th Tuesday of each month at the St. Augustine Amphitheatre, 1340C A1A South. Free admission and free parking.
  • Wednesday Pier Farmers Market From 8 a.m. to noon every Wednesday at the St. Augustine Beach Pier parking lot, 350 A1A Beach Blvd., St. Augustine Beach.
  • Salt Air Farmers Market — From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. every Sunday year-round at the Marineland Marina, 101 Tolstoy Lane, from A1A South, across the street from Marineland Dolphin Adventure.  www.saltairfarmersmarket.com
  • Nocatee Farmers Market — From 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. every third Saturday of the month in the Nocatee community. Free admission and parking in the Nocatee community in Ponte Vedra Beach.  www.nocatee.com
  • St. Augustine Flea Market — Every Saturday and Sunday at The St. Augustine Flea Market, 2495 State Road 207. Hours are 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. both days, with free parking and admission. staugustinefleamarket.com

  • Nights of Lights 3rd Saturday of November through February 3, 2019 — More than 3 million white lights decorate the City of St. Augustine during the holiday season.
