Tips, tricks, and requirements for dogs
We are happy to say that we love hosting dogs at Dreams Come True Cottage about as much as we love hosting humans! So we've compiled this little list of tips, tricks, and important things you should know to make your dog's visit with us a great one!
We Got You
Look over our list of dog-related amenities HERE on our amenities list for DCT Cottage. We hope this will make packing a little easier.
Before Arrival
- Please make sure your dog's toenails are clipped. This will prevent damage to our LVT and hardwood flooring throughout the cottage.
- All dogs should be up-to-date on their vaccinations.
- All dogs that are "outside" dogs, must be treated with flea and tick prevention medication.
- Unfortunately, there are some dogs that we cannot host. Our insurance company will not indemnify us for certain breeds of dogs. We will ask about your dog upon reservation
Dog Rules And Courtesies
- Beach rules - HERE is where you will find the various beach-related rules related to dogs.
- Fur-free furniture - No dogs are permitted on the furniture.
- Reality Check
- Cover it up - If your dog didn't read the rental agreement or doesn't tend to comply with rules like fur-free furniture, then please bring several lightweight, large blankets to cover the furniture in rooms accessible to Fido. We have a sofa and loveseat in the living room that is in a common area.
- Use the doors - The family room and bedrooms all have doors, so keeping your dog off the furniture is as easy as closing the doors to these rooms when your dog is left unattended.
- Bring his home-away-from-home - If your dog is crate-trained, that is a great solution to keeping your dog, and our furniture, safe while you are out enjoying the area.
- No barking or whining - Do not leave your dog(s) unattended outside. We do not want them disturbing the neighbors on the block. If you leave them in the three-season room, do not leave the windows open (again, we do not want dog noise to disturb the neighbors when you aren't home).
- Clean up - Forgive me for saying this, but clean up after your dog in our yard, in the neighborhood, on the beach, or anywhere else you go. We all know this is a universal dog-owning courtesy, but we also all know that there sure seems to be a lot of poo out there that no one did the right thing with!
- Leashes always - Yes, unless you're in our fenced backyard or at our area dog parks, the leash is required.
