Where To Fish...
Dragonfly Pond is right outside your door at Clover's Cottage, but there are many fishing options nearby. Guests may enjoy fishing on nearby Pine Creek. Pine Creek is a short walk down the dirt lane from the cottage. Follow the little babbling creek that runs along the property - it runs straight down to Pine Creek. The dirt lane is actually a public roadway with private land on either side. The dirt lane ends at Pine Creek, where you will also notice a small camp-out area with camper(s), pavilion and fire pit (private property).
There are a number of great fishing spots at local bridges along Pine Creek as well. Consider taking a ride or hike to find the perfect location (the closest spot is at the "yellow bridge").
The Rules...
Since Clover's Cottage is private property, no fishing license is required. We welcome catch-and-release (please push in the barb on your hook to increase the likely survival of the fish you catch), or catch-and-eat (keep only those that are large enough that you will enjoy cleaning and consuming). If fishing off-property, be mindful of Pennsylvania fishing laws and fishing license requirements (short term licenses are easy to obtain at the local Walmart).
Please keep safety in mind and monitor your children while they fish.
Additional Information
Dragonfly pond is a spring and creek-fed pond that changes every season. In the hottest, driest times of year, algae and duck weed can grow on the pond. We utilize two pond-bottom aerators to increase water flow and help inhibit algae growth. Some years, algae growth is not a problem at all, and others, we have to supplement treatment with bio-friendly water additives to keep algae in check as much as possible. We cannot predict the growth or condition from season to season, but if you ask us prior to arival, we can let you know what to expect upon arrival. One thing for sure - expect to catch some fish!!!
