Many of the best parts of Cozumel are missed by tourist who stay on the main street known as Melgar. The people of Cozumel are so kind and welcoming. Do yourself a favor and try some of the local restaurants that are off the beaten path. Here are a few of our favorites!
Casa Mission, La Mission, El Moro, Burrito Gordito, Zermatt Bakery are all in San Miguel. If you venture to the back side of the island, which we highly recommend, stop at Miami Bar and try some of their delicious ceviche, fresh seafood or wonderful tacos. You can't be in a hurry, because everything is made fresh! Miami Bar has fresh coconuts that they open with their machete! The coconut water is amazing by itself, or mixed with your choice of adult beverage. Their mojitos are the best, and like none we have ever tried before. You won't be sorry if you try one!!
Coconuts has the best view on the backside of the island. It sits atop a coral cliff and overlooks the ocean. There are dogs, cats, iguanas, chickens, parrots and other fun creatures to enjoy while you are there too! There is a bathroom there as well that is kept up nicely.
